As a child, Isabelle “Isa” Crepin never thought she would have the opportunity to accomplish big things in her life, but that did not stop her from trying.
As the daughter of two hardworking, blue-collar workers in the south of Belgium, Isa does not remember grand adventures or expensive educations. Instead, Isa’s parents gave her something worth much more: they instilled a strong work ethic and family values of knowledge, determination and perseverance.
Today, Isa proudly lives those values each day at Weir ESCO Frameries as the European international logistics manager.
“I love solving problems and learning new things,” Isa shared. “In my role, every day is a new challenge and I can use that to teach others. That makes what I do incredibly exciting.”
Isa enjoys her job in logistics. The path getting there, she admitted, was not exactly traditional.
When Isa joined Weir ESCO in 2005 as an accountant, she leveraged her experiences and knowledge from her prior job to help colleagues overcome logistics challenges and find solutions for customers. For nearly two decades, Isa’s “get up and go” attitude earned her the reputation of someone willing to go above and beyond.
Her dedication and fail-fast mindset helped her take on new roles at ESCO, including traffic analyst and, eventually, international logistics coordinator.
“When I took on the logistics coordinator role, I took on more responsibility and there was even a time when I was largely working independently,” Isa recalled. “At the time, we only shipped to Europe and the Middle East. Today, my team and I ship ESCO products all over the globe.”
As the team and business grew, so did Isa. In April this year, Isa stepped into a new opportunity as international logistics manager. Today she remains a driving force in the success of ESCO’s European business, supporting the global finance teams and the international logistics teams in China, South Africa and the U.S.
Looking back on almost 18 years with Weir ESCO, Isa said she is proud to work for a company with similar values.
“When I think back on when I started my journey to now, I think, ‘wow,’” Isa laughed. “I lost my parents when I was young, but I think if they could see where I am today, how I share their values with others, they would be proud of me.”
In her spare time, Isa spends time taking long walks on the Belgian countryside with her dalmatian, Boum (lovingly named for the “boom” sound he made when running into everything during his puppy years).
